Race date:
Saturday 8 July 2017.

Starts and finishes on the beach near the Kurrawa SLSC in Broadbeach. Car parking is available in the surrounding streets, the Kurrawa Surf Life Saving Club and the Oasis shopping centre.

Event options:
The events consist of a half marathon, 10 kms and 5 kms and a Nippers run of one km for the kids (13 & under).

Not only are they most welcome, but they are encouraged, more so in the 5 and 10 kms.

Start times::

Start times are 6:30 am for the half marathon; 6:45 am for the 10 kms,  7:00 am for the 5 kms. The one km nippers’ run will start at 8:00 am. Electronic timing will be employed and gun times will be used rather than chip times.

Run courses, all events are out and back, north and return. The turn points are:

  • the half marathon – to the seaway and back for the full HM distance of 21.0975 kms.
  • the 10 kms to Cable Street, just north of Narrowneck and return for the full 10 kms
  • the 5 kms to Q1 tower and back for the full 5.0 kms
  • the Nippers run of one km, to the Broadbeach SLSC and return

Surface: All sand. The tide will be low some years, meaning harder sand and lower some years, when not so hard packed but always runnable. It is clean sand, free of rocks, stones and coral.

Footwear: You can run barefoot if you wish, but you do so at your own risk.

Aid stations:
There will be water stations at regular intervals, spaced no further apart than 5 kms.

First aid: For cuts and abrasions, the aid stations will carry First Aid kits. A qualified paramedic will be on hand to attend to anything more serious.

We provide public liability insurance for this and all of our events. This does not include Personal Accident (PA) cover for you as a runner. We have joined Qrun as a member organisation to access this PA insurance but for it to extend to you, you must also be a member of Qrun. You can join when you enter this race, by entering the information when prompted, at the low cost of $10/pa. If you are already a member of Qrun or Queensland Athletics, you can ignore this option. Likewise, if you enter another of our races, you need not join Qrun a second time. This insurance will also cover you on any of our organised training runs, but only if you have registered with us and, in turn, with Qrun. This insurance is good for any of our races and while participating in any of our organised training runs (currently at Nerang every Wednesday) but expires come end August each year.


First three males and first three females in all events.

Medallions will be awarded to all finishers.

Race certificates:
The race will be timed electronically and the results will be available at the results page later on raceday. Race certificates will be available online and can be printed off at your leisure and at no charge.

Refreshments are available in the vicinity of the the Kurrawa Surf Lifesaving Club.

Racebibs and timing chips:
Competitors, other than late entrants, will receive a personalised racebib. Racebibs and timing chips will be available for pickup from the race precinct from 5:00 am.

Race singlets for adults:
Race singlets will be provided to all entrants as part of the entry fee. For sizing details see here for women and here for men.

Race t-shirts for nippers.
Race tees will be provided for those in the nippers’ race. Our supplier doesn’t supply singlets for kids. The cost is included in the entry price. These are unisex, for sizing details see here.

Adults accompanying their children:
Adults may accompany their children and may or may not register. Those who do not register will not be eligible for a racebib, singlet or medal.

Photos will be provided free of charge and will be available for download & print, or for tagging and sharing on Social media.

The race will be timed electronically and results will be available online within 2 hours of the race. Please make sure you hand in your timing chip after the race. To work, the chips need to be affixed to your shoe laces.

Closing date:
The closing date for online race entries will be 5:00 on Friday, 7 July, 2017. On-the-day paper entries will be available, cash only, add $10.

Beach Run Gold Coast

Beach Run Gold Coast is Australia’s foremost beach run. It is conducted from Broadbeach to Surfers Paradise and return, on the world famous Gold Coast beach. It hubs out of the famous Kurrawa Surf Lifesaving Club. This is Australia’s dominant SLSC and home to Australian Surf Life Saving championships for many years.

The events

The events consist of 5 kms, 10 kms and a half marathon of 21 kms plus a one km run for kids of 13 and under. The race date is pitched at four weeks after the Gold Coast Runaway Bay marathon & 100 kms supermarathon. It is also just six days after the Gold Coast Airport Marathon. Thus it affords visitors to the Gold Coast the opportunity of coming for the marathon and staying for the Beach Run.
